RESIDENCY TRAINING
Program Duration
Membership – After 3 years of successful training, a resident becomes eligible for Membership at the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Fellowship – After 2 years of successful training and research after Membership, a resident becomes eligible for Fellowship at the Liberia College of Physicians and Surgeons
Admission Requirements
General entry requirements for postgraduate residency programs are:
- MD degree or equivalent from a recognized university and transcript
- Full licensure by the Liberia Medical and Dental Council
- Proof of completion of internship
- Record of having passed a written primary examination in the proposed field of specialty, and sitting and passing an entrance interview
- Submission of a duly completed Application Form and payment of Application Fee of US$250.00 (Two Fifty USD) or its equivalent in Liberian Dollars
- Preference will be given to those who have completed at least one year of post-internship rural service work experience (6 months of which can be EmOC) or 1 year work in a teaching hospital in applicant’s proposed field of specialty
- MoH employees MUST present written letter of clearance from employer
- Two letters of recommendation including one from medical school attended
- Curriculum vitae and autobiography
- Two passport sized photos (red background)
- Health Certificate
- Copy of birth certificate/naturalization paper
- Annual tuition of US$5,000.00 (for foreign students) – exclusive of accommodation and feeding
Entry requirements for transfer students
- MD or MBChB degree
- Full Licensure by the Liberia Medical and Dental Council
- 24 months post-graduation working experience
- Two letters of recommendation including one from the institution applicant is transferring from
- Candidates must pass an entrance interview
- Transcript(s) from the last school attended
- Grade point average of B or better
- Annual tuition of US$5,000.00 (for foreign students) – exclusive of accommodation and feeding
